How Does SculpSure Body Contouring Work?

Learn here how does sculpsure body contouring work and what is involved in this procedure

One of the newest body contouring procedures that were recently approved by the FDA is SculpSure. This non-invasive treatment gives people an alternative to surgery and liposuction and has many amazing benefits. The treatment itself can be administered within an hour without harming the body or skin. Let’s learn more about the procedure and everything involved.

What is SculpSure Body Contouring?

  • SculpSure is a new body contouring technique developed by Cynosure, Inc. that works by heating the fat cells in the body and shrinking them using a 1060 nanometer diode laser. Since fat burns at a lower temperature than the skin, the outer layer of skin remains unharmed.

The process of shrinking the fat cells through a laser is called apoptosis. The shrunken cells eventually die and are expelled from the body through the lymphatic system. Although the procedure does not give instant results, it is preferred by many people all over the world.

Who is a Good Candidate for this Procedure?

Since SculpSure is not a weight-loss procedure, rather it is an aesthetic and cosmetic procedure. Some of the qualifications that make you an ideal candidate are as follows:

  • You are 10-20 pounds away from your ideal body weight
  • You have a BMI of around 30 kg/m2
  • You have stubborn fat in certain areas you wish to remove
  • You have more subcutaneous fat than visceral fat
  • You have healthy skin and don’t have any skin conditions
  • Steps of the SculpSure Procedure

The SculpSure procedure is easy to administer and can be performed in a general clinic as well. The steps to the procedure are as follows:

Step 1

  • The first step is to discuss with the doctor where you are looking to lose fat and how much of a difference you are hoping to see. In many cases, the doctor helps keep your expectations realistic.

Step 2

  • Then the doctor sits you down in a comfortable chair that has been set in a reclined position. They will mark the parts of your body where the treatment is to be administered.

Step 3

  • Next, the SculpSure device is wrapped around the targetted area like a belt. The amount of area covered depends on the availability of belts where you are getting the procedure done. In most cases, almost all marked areas are treated in one sitting.

Step 4

  • The SculpSure device begins heating the fat cells and this takes place during most of the time of the session. Then the device cools down the affected area and the total procedure takes 25 minutes.

Step 5

  • Once you are done with the cooling, you are walked through the after procedure instructions and informed how you will notice a change.

Recovery Period After Procedure

SculpSure

  • On average, SculpSure reduces upto 25% fat in the affected area. The results can take anywhere from 6-12 weeks to show as the body slowly metabolizes the dead fat cells and passes them out through the lymphatic system.

It is important to understand that since it isn’t a weight loss procedure, it will take time. The results vary from person to person but many see a positive change over time. However, the doctor may give certain dietary instructions, etc for the period between the procedure and the results.
